How to Nail Monochromatic Layering

As fall fashion kicks off into full swing, I wanted to highlight one of my fav styling tricks: the art of layering. Transition weather can be tough to combat, so in a pinch it’s always best to add a couple of extra pieces that can make allllll the difference (both for style and for our crazy climate).

The key to layering (particularly if you’re wearing all one colour) is to mix and match various textures. This way, your outfit clearly highlights where one piece starts and the other finishes.

In this look, I started with a dual stretch legging with zip details and a suede pointed ankle boot. This elongates the leg and makes for a good base to layer with. On top, I started with a ribbed tank and a long waterfall-front crepe and knit cardi that gives the look and feel of a blazer. I finished the look with a faux fur shearling vest to really build texture and visual interest.
